Northwest members joined hundreds of other concerned Georgia citizens on the steps of the Georgia Capitol on May 21, 2019 to protest the Georgia lawmakers attempt to restrict women’s access to reproductive health care. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp in early May signed into law a so-called “heartbeat” bill, banning abortion as early as six weeks into pregnancy. Georgia is the fourth state to pass such a law this year alone.
“We’re going to court,” said Staci Fox, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeast, which operates clinics in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. “Governor Kemp, we’ll see you in court.”
