Rev. Rogers Arrested Protesting

Rev. Jonathan Rogers, interim minister at Northwest, was among nine community leaders who were arrested on February 12, 2019 during a meeting of the Georgia Board of Regents meeting.  Rev. Rogers was among the four faith leaders who were arrested protesting the barring of immigrants without legal status from attending three of the state’s top universities as well as the requirement that such students pay out-of-state tuition at other institutions.

Following the opening invocation at the Board of Regents meeting, nine individuals stood up to continue the prayer in an act of nonviolent civil disobedience.  Those arrested were transported to the Fulton County jail.
