Winter Warmth and Compassion

Throughout the harsh winter this year in Atlanta, members of Northwest have been bringing comfort and warmth to Atlanta’s homeless. Started last winter, Renee and Michael Burke asked members of Northwest to provide donations of blankets, jackets, shoes, pants and other articles of clothing to help give Atlanta’s neediest a chance to stay warm.

Renee and Michael continued their random acts of kindness again this winter with continued support from Northwest members. Renee noted, “The outpouring of generosity from Northwest was overwhelming. When we asked for socks and blankets, we frequently found the donation box filled to overflowing with all we needed. Some of the donations were newly purchased.”

With spring emerging, the winter clothing drive has been suspended. It will resume again when the weather turns cold and when compassion and kindness is the only hope that Atlanta’s needy can turn to for warmth.
