We arrived in Louisville mid-afternoon and immediately began running into UU friends from around the country. We registered, checked into our rooms, then Marcia and I went to choir practice. The highlight of the Opening Ceremonies included watching Nick Newell carry the Northwest banner in the parade, then hearing poetry by Kentucky’s poet laureate, Frank X Walker. After the plenary opening session, the evening ended with great music. We are excited and exhausted, but preparing for day two.
