Welcome Dana Poss
On Sunday, August 28, 2016 Northwest members and friends had an opportunity to say “hello” to Dana Poss, Northwest’s Acting Director of Religious Education (DRE). Last Sunday, there was a tearful, hug-filled “good-bye” to Northwest’s long time DRE, Elizabeth Hickman.
We are sorry to see Elizabeth step down, but are very happy to secure such a skilled and experienced interim DRE.
Previously, Dana was the volunteer Youth Advisor for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham before becoming the Youth Programs Director at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta (UUCA), where she served for five years.
After her service at UUCA , Dana moved to Idaho, where she served for two years as the Director of Lifespan Religious Exploration at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse.
Dana returned home to Georgia in 2015 and has spent the last year as an Acting DRE at both the Athens and Roswell congregations. She has served on the district board and is a trained Healthy Congregations Consultant as well as a member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association. She has led numerous trainings for new youth workers and DREs as well as volunteering at The Mountain and Camp de Benneville Pines in California.
In addition to her professional experience, Dana is a voracious reader of fantasy. She also enjoys gardening, DIY projects and spending time with her three children.
