Church of Our Father – Meeting Minutes of May 1, 1890 (Organ on Trial Basis)

Atlanta, Ga. May 1, 1890
Call meeting Board Trustees convened 8 pm 5/1/90.
Meeting called to order by Mr. Chaney. Mr. Kennedy appointed Chairman.
Present were Fisher, Crafts, Kennedy, Burns and Rev. G.L. Chaney.

Messrs. Crafts and Fisher held proxies of Messrs. Lederle and Harding.

The report of the music committee was given regarding the organ, as follows. They have seen the organ and after investigation and reflection decided to recommend its purchase if same proved satisfactory after two-week trial. Price first quoted $350. This proved in error. Price amended $390. Increase account of Prfre (?) ??? (Archivist: could not transcribe meeting minutes) ornament value $40.00.

This matter of increased price referred to Board for action. It was decided of too little comment to bar purchase of organ if same proved satisfactory after trial.

If organ was purchased finally, seller to pay expenses of placing in church. If organ rejected, church to pay expenses of removal both ways. Terms of purchase one, two and three months.

The report was accepted.

On motion of Mr. Crafts, Mr. Fisher seconding, it was decided to take the organ on two-week trial. Mr. Sternberg to operate the instrument during the trial as agreed upon between Mr. Sternberg and committee.

The matter of acceptance or rejection of the organ after the trial was left to the hands of the Board of Trustees.

This business disposed of, Mr. Chaney moved that in remembrance and respect for our former member and friend Ann Hodge a committee be appointed to draft suitable thank a copy of the same be sent to his family. Seconded by Mr. Crafts. Messrs. Frank Lederle, Mr. Chaney (ex-officio), Mr. Fisher and Mr. Crafts were selected as this committee
