 WORSHIP

Sunday, May 22, 2022, “Pursuing our Passion”

Being passionate about something and pursuing that can be inspirational and bring joy. But is passion always a good thing? Are there times when a passion can be destructive? Join us this Sunday as we explore the many meanings of passion and how pursuing our passion can even be a spiritual exercise.  Join Worship Associates Lynne Dale and Tony Barbagallo for this service.  Rev. Misha is not in the pulpit this Sunday.

We will be in-person in the sanctuary, as well as online in our Zoom room or follow on our Facebook page.

 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Please join us after the service this Sunday, May 22nd for playground and activity time. We will have an arts and crafts activity as well as time to enjoy fun games on the playground with friends.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear NWUUC Congregation,

I hope to see you all at the congregational meeting this Sunday, May 22, 2022, immediately following the service! We will need a quorum to vote on anything – at least 20% of our membership – so please attend in person, via Zoom, or by proxy (see instructions on how to do that below).

We will be voting to approve the minutes from our last congregational meeting on 5/23/21, our proposed budget for 22-23, and the slate of nominees for next year’s Board, Leadership Development and Endowment Committees.  Per the Bylaws, the Board has approved the slate for MTLs, but they are provided for your information.

An email will be sent to all members today with reports from the ministry teams and the professional staff, along with the proposed budget for 2022-2023. Grier Page, our financial trustee, and the entire board of trustees have been working hard on it!  We will answer any questions you might have and will be looking for your vote of approval.

Finally, David Stewart is coming back to us with the latest developments on the loan for our preschool, explaining what has changed, and will be asking for your vote to move forward.

If you cannot attend in person or on Zoom and want your vote to be counted, please email your proxy to secretary Sandy Davis at board@nwuuc.org. The email should follow this general format: I, (your name) hereby give (name of person you are giving your proxy) the right to cast my vote in the congregational meeting on May 22, 2022.

I look forward to being together!

Lynne Dale

NWUUC Board of Trustees

Sunday Coffee Hour is resuming

and Kitchen Volunteers are needed

Sunday Coffee Hour is back with a delightful surprise – a NEW COFFEE STATION in our beautiful social hall.  But we need more volunteers to help make this enjoyable after-service interaction time possible – especially 3rd, 4th, and occasional 5th Sundays.  Critical substitutes are very welcomed!  Can you manage to help with set-up or clean-up?  Please contact Anne Bennett at anne.bennett@gmail.com.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Two More Weeks To Own A Bob Thacker Painting!

We hope everyone who has been coming to in-person services at Northwest

has had a good look at the charming paintings of Bob Thacker in

Subramanian Hall.

They are available for purchase through a bidding system, and since there

are so few of us, you can probably acquire your favorite/s for a reasonable

price. For those of you who have gotten used to attending services in your

pajamas, we will be posting most of the artwork online in the coming weeks.

We are grateful to Susie Thacker for donating the work to Northwest.

Circle Supper

Make plans now for our June supper, Saturday, June 18. And while you’re at it, consider hosting one of these dinners. No cooking; the party comes to you.

Watch for your eVite early next week and sign up to reserve your spot. Please call Judy McKinley or Kat Benoy if you need to know more.

Kids Summer Camp at The Mountain

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.

In 2022, we will have the option of meeting online or in-person! For those who enjoyed the convenience and accessibility of remote participation, General Assembly will continue to offer virtual attendance with robust programming and enhanced delegate discussion tools. For those who have been missing the physical experience, GA 2022 will also feature face-to-face interactions, hanging banners, a browsable exhibit hall, meals with friends old and new, local site attractions, and more! Join us June 22 – 26, 2022 online or in-person in Portland, Oregon.

If you would like to be considered to be one of our four delegates, please submit your name to the Board. We currently have two approved delegates but there is still time for the Board to approve another two.
