Ryan Wilson, nephew of Marti Wilson suffers from serious kidney problems and faces a long recovery.   Marti also reports the loss of two cousins who  passed away in recent weeks.
Marti is at home now following a short stay at Northside Hospital and the diagnosis of a stroke.  She is resting, but says she is feeling fine now.

Keep Gwen Kahn in your thoughts and prayers as she cares for her 93 year old father Hugh Lowrey as he recovers from a breakthrough covid illness.  Thankfully, he is improving every day.

Starting this Sunday: HOPS, A New Second
Hour Sunday Series!

Sally Mitchell and Veta Tucker, the NW Adult Learning Committee, understand the Sunday Second Hour session as a time after Sunday service for presentations and discussions, encouraging spiritual growth, personal learning, and deepening connections among NWUUC members and friends.

Sunday, September 19th, Letitia Sweitzer will introduce a new Second Hour series called HOPS (hobbies, obsessions, professions, skills). You can participate in the session on zoom right after the worship service. Letitia will present stories about a life changing experience. You will get to know Letitia in a new way as she talks about how raising a child with hearing loss impacted her life.

Do you have a novel suggestion, a little known hobby, obsession, or skill that you are passionate about that you can share with us? Or maybe you know someone in our congregation who has a novel experience that they have yet to share. Please let us know.

Contact either Sally Mitchell at artmusicsm@att.net or Veta Tucker at  tuckerv22@gmail.com.

The Equinox is Upon Us

Time to Find Balance in Your Life

See the source image

The Wheel of the Year has come round to the Autumnal Equinox, the time of equal night and day as the warmth of Summer begins to fade and the coolness of the Fall leads us toward longer nights and shorter days as the Sun continues its trek to the Southern Hemisphere. The Hawk’s Hoop Chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) will mark the event with a Mabon ritual in Stan’s Circle in the woods behind the church and on Zoom with a ritual on Sunday the 19th of September at 1:00 pm. The ritual is open to all who seek a closer connection with the spirituality of Mother Earth and to achieve a sense of balance in their lives.

Use the regular Sunday morning Zoom login: nwuuc.org/zoom/ and click on “Sunday Services”.

The NWUUC Fall Auction is (Still) Coming!

Northwest will be holding its annual auction online again this year and we need everyone’s help.  If you are an artist, a crafter, a maker, a cook, or just have neat items stashed in your attic that need a good home….We need your stuff!!

Last year, we had an awesome inaugural online auction where 75 items were bid upon, and we made a $5,000 profit.

Let’s break some records this year!  The stewardship committee would love to expand the auction offerings this year to 100 items and try to double our profits.

We can do it!  Online bidding is easy, fun, and a great way to support our church endeavors through these challenging times.

Don’t know what to donate?  How about these ideas?

  • Home-cooked dinners and desserts in your home, or for delivery; your choice

  • Airbnb Weekend or Vacation Home Getaway

  • Artwork or home decor; Homemade crafts; Holiday decorations

  • Themed baskets (art/craft supplies, kids’ toys, books, etc.)

  • Gift cards or certificates (support your local restaurants and introduce us to a new place!)

  • Create an event to hold in our newly renovated building! (Groups of less than 20.)

    • Meals and Movie or Game Night

    • Lessons (yoga, cooking, life coaching, mini concert)

    • Wine and Cheese Tasting

Please complete this Google Form to post your donation today!
