 WORSHIP

Sunday January 10
This Sunday is our monthly youth-led worship, and our theme is Balance.

A Note from Rev. Misha:

Dear NWUUC,

With good cause, many UU congregations are busy right now scrapping their Sunday worship plans and going a different direction.

The events unfolding in our nation this week are head-spinning, and happening so quickly!  There is so much to hold our attention, our hopes, and our fears.  It’s nearly impossible to know the right things to say.

Here’s the plan for NWUUC.
We will NOT be postponing our monthly youth-led worship this Sunday.  As you all know and are rightly proud to support, our excellent youth group is an integral, vital part of our congregation. It is the norm here that they participate in all aspects of church life, including leadership.

My sermon will change with the events of the week, of course.  But there is no way in the world I would ask our youth, who ARE our hope for positive change, to defer to anyone right now.

Lead away!l

Please join me in supporting, celebrating, and appreciating them and all the work they do for and among us, beloveds.

See you in Zoom church on Sunday!

In love and hope,
Rev. Misha

The login for Zoom is https://nwuuc.org/zoom/ or follow the service on our Facebook page. Stay tuned in afterwards for our Coffee Hour at 11 am.

Joys and Sorrows

From Rev. Joan

The Chat in this past Sunday’s Zoom worship service was full of NWUUC Community News as well as Joys and Sorrows.  Thanks to all of you who shared your news with us.  Here is a sampling:

Hannah Cowart shared a joy.  She was with her sister this week awaiting the birth of her new niece.  And the update!  Hanna Larraine arrived on January 4th.  Congratulations to Hannah, Hanna and their family!

Congratulations to Sydney Kahn who will be making her way to Penn later this week.  Best wishes from your Northwest family!

Judy McKinley reports that her niece is expecting the newest member of their family later this month.

David Morgen and family finally got to celebrate a belated Christmas together after Ella and Chloe got negative Covid tests.  They dubbed it “Newyearsmas.”

Chloe Morgen turned 18 on December 22 and the Morgen family went together to vote.  As a first time voter Chloe got to ring a bell and everyone in the precinct cheered for her.  WOO HOO!

And the lost kitten was found.  Rev. Misha reported that son Kyle’s kitten finally found her way home. A joy for the Sanders family!

Also:

A memorial Service for former Northwest member Elizabeth Kloss will be held via Zoom on Saturday January 30th at 3 pm (Eastern time).  If you are interested in an email invitation please email Diane Kloss, dkloss@kent.edu.  View her obituary here.

NWUUC Book Groupies
Tuesday, January 12, 7 pm on zoom

The NWUUC Book Groupies will discuss The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. If you are looking for a book to transport you out of your current circumstances, this is it!

If you would like to order this book from our bookstore which contributes all profits to NWUUC, please leave a message for Penny Raney at 770 551 8817 and we will make arrangements to get it to you. Also, please let me know if you want to be in the Zoom meeting if you are not currently on our book groupies list.

We Still Need People to Host………

Do you enjoy Coffee Hour each Sunday?  Are you willing to host from time to time.  It is super easy (and we will train you), but without more people willing to do it we might have to discontinue.

It’s pretty easy if you have any tech skills at all, so don’t be shy! Send your name to our IT Helpdesk at techhelp@nwuuc.org and one of us will get back to you with how-to instructions.
