Northwest welcomes its new Director of Religious Education (DRE) Adia Fields-Udofia. Adia has been involved in Northwest’s religious education program since 2017 serving as the Spirit Play coordinator. The DRE Search Committee consisted of interim minister Rev. Jonathan Rogers and congregational members Chrissy Haddad and MarKay Appel. Rev. Jonathan Rogers stated that “In addition to her storytelling skills, the hiring team was impressed by Adia’s demonstrated commitment to working for inclusion and diversity, and her stated desire to provide the kind of RE program for Northwest’s children and youth that she would have wanted growing up.”
Northwest’s outgoing DRE, Christina Branum-Martin, added that Adia’s welcoming and energetic personality is a reflection of Northwest’s religious education program.
In her career, Adia has worked for multiple non-profit organizations and is currently working with survivors of child commercial sexual exploitation.
Adia will assume her duties as the paid staff leader of Northwest’s religious education program in July.
