Tonight, Rev Clark Olsen, companion of Rev James Reeb on the night Reeb was brutally attacked, and recipient of this year’s UUA Distinguished Service Award, introduced Representative John Lewis who marched in Selma in 1965 and continues to march for freedom and justice to this day.  True heroes graced the platform.

Rev Schultz said  “no one is more respected on both sides of the aisle than John Lewis.”

Rep Lewis’ advice to young people today:

“if you see something that needs to be done, don’t wait for someone else to do it, do it yourself!”

“Police need the kind of non-violence training I had in the 1960’s.”

“I want my legacy to be – he just tried to help out.”
