Climate Sensitive Investments, Follow Up

On January 21, an Earth blog post brought to my attention the sustainability coalition, Ceres, consisting of some 130 partners (investors, businesses and public interest groups) which, among other things, oversees the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), which chooses investments so as to avoid a negative impact on our climate.  (INCR collectively manages over 10 trillion dollars in assets.)

On checking with the UUA as regards a possible UU connection with Ceres vis-Ă -vis the UU Common Endowment Fund (UUCEF), I got the following response from Susan Helbert, Assistant to UUA Treasurer Tim Brennan:

“We are associated with Ceres in relation to the UUCEF. Ceres directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR) which is a network of leading investors who leverage their power as stakeholders to secure meaningful commitments on sustainability issues companies are facing. Their excellent research helps us determine who we wish to file shareholder resolutions with and, in turn, we assist them if an issue comes up where we may be the only investor that holds a particular stock they would like to see an issue filed on.  Tim Brennan, attended the Investor Summit on Climate Risk held at the UN last week.”

Note that the Northwest Endowment Fund currently has approximately $68,000 invested with the UUCEF.
