Religious Education, Family Ministry Teams and YOU!

Religious Education is a cooperative program at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation – a joint venture where parents, young people, paid staff and the congregation as a whole all contribute.  There is no one “best way” to make a difference.  Please look over the list below and check one or more ways you are able to contribute your time.

_____Family Ministry Team Leader
Family Ministry teams are new to Northwest this year.  Organized by class groupings, each team is asked to hold a social “Get Acquainted” event in the fall, another in the spring, and sponsor a RE special event.  The Team Leader(s) acts like a “Room Parent” and coordinator.  Training, support and resources provided.

_____Religious Education Teacher
Be part of a teaching team of 3-4 individuals!  RE teachers work in pairs using curriculum with suggested lesson plans.  Training, materials and support is provided.  Commitment is for 1 semester or about 6-7 Sundays in the fall (Sept-Dec) or spring (Jan-May).  The theme for elementary school age and older children is World Religions.

_____Nursery Assistant
Be an extra pair of hands to play with our youngest members.

_____Youth Advisor
Advisors are adults who support our teenagers as they grow in leadership abilities and spiritual depth.  Occasional transportation to and chaperoning of overnight events is expected.  Cost of training and travel expenses is covered.

_____Our Whole Lives (OWL) Facilitator
Attend weekend training and then commit to co-facilitate a comprehensive sexuality education program for Junior High (7th-9th grade) or High School (10th-12th grade) youth.

_____Webmaster/mistress
Help design and maintain the Religious Education portion of the Northwest website.

_____Birthday Card Sender
Cards, stamps and list of children’s birthdays supplied – you address and send cards at the appropriate time.

_____Holiday Pageant Coordinator
Script and support provided for this December tradition.

_____Design My Own!
