Rev. Dr. Morris Hudgins

The Rev. Dr. Morris Hudgins is our Interim Minister at Northwest.  Rev. Dr. Morris Hudgins

Morris grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where his mother and two sisters continue to live. 

Morris is a graduate of Duke University Divinity School in North Carolina with a Master of Divinity degree and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia with a Doctorate of Ministry. 

 

Rev. Hudgins has been a UU minister for 38 years, serving four UU churches as a settled minister, and Northwest is his 4th as an interim minister.  He has served churches in Boca Raton, Florida; Delaware County, PA; Raleigh, NC; Cincinnati, OH; Richmond, VA; Chapel Hill, NC; and most recently in Charlottesville, VA. 

 

He has served as a Good Office Person for UU ministers for over 15 years, and as a member of the UU Funding Panel for eight years and as Chair of the International UU Funding Panel for eight years.  Morris now serves as President of the SUUSI Board.

 

Marti Toms, his wife, was a member of Northwest in the 80's and 90's.  They met at the Southeast UU Summer Institute (SUUSI) in the 70's.  They were married in 1995.  Marti has three daughters, and Morris a son and a daughter.  They have five grandchildren.  Their retirement home is near Knoxville, TN.  They now reside in Marietta near Powers Ferry and Terrill Mill Roads.
