Also resolution of thanks to Dr. Harlyn Hitchcock for his donation of organist service and his efforts to secure a pipe organ for the church (Archivist Note: The church has a piano for the Sunday school, but the small organ used in the church was the property of Dr. McGlauflin. That organ is to be returned to Dr. McGlauflin who is no longer the pastor of the church.)601119 - 120
1906.07.30Jul 30, 1906 MoM - Board of First Universalist Church of Atlanta. Discussed a number of items. A new order of business was adopted by which to conduct board meetings. Members of the board were divided in sections to attend "all sales conducted by ladies of the church at night." The adopted motion noted that the men should attend "for protection and encouragement to the ladies." Archivist Note: A large race riot had occurred in Atlanta Sept 22 - 24, 1906. The reference to "protection" may have been a concern over these riots. If a member of the board did not attend an appointed ladies meeting, he would be fined $1.00. Board also reviewed Treasurer's report and ordered several vouchers drawn to pay bills. Board also agreed that the second Monday of each month shall be the meeting time for the Board. 601124 - 126
