Church of Our Father – Meeting Minutes, Oct 27, 1903 (Financial, Attendance, Southern Conference

Atlanta, Ga., Oct 27, 1903

Regular meeting of Board of Trustees held this evening at the residence of Mr. J.C. Peck.

Present: Chairman, John L. Moore, Messrs. Peck, Walker, Crafts, St. Amand, Harding and Mrs. Daniels.

Minutes of the meetings of June 16th and Sept. 15th read and approved.

Treasurer report as follows:

Amount in hands of Treasurer Sept 15th: $10.96
Receipts since Sept. 15th to date: $230.63
Total: $241.59

Disbursements from Sept. 15th to Oct. 27th: $237.45
Amount in hands of Treasurer: $4.14

Mr. Harding report attendance as follows:

Sep 20 – 54
Sep 27 – 46
Oct   4 – 56
Oct 11 – 45
Oct 18 – 52
Oct 25 – 58

Report adopted.

Mr. St. Amand called attention to insurance on building and fixtures which expires November 9th divided as follows: $4,000 on building, $800 on furniture and $200 on organ.

After free discussion, Mr. J.C. Peck moved that the Treasurer be instructed to renew the insurance as follows:
$3,000 on building, $500 on furniture and $100 on organ, $3,60o in all – Carried

The Southern Conference to be held on November 17th, 18th and 19th in Atlanta was discussed and a committee of five was appointed to act with  the Pastor and Woman’s Alliance in making the necessary arrangements.  It was suggested that the Chairman appoint a committee which was amended by the Committee being nominated – Carried.

Mr. St. Amand moved that J.C. Peck be made an honorary member of the Conference Committee – Carried.

The Conference Committee was as follows:

  • J.G. St. Amand
  • John L. Moore
  • Hamilton Douglas
  • Mrs. Daniel
  • Mrs. G.W. Johnson
  • Rev. C.A. Langston

Mr. St. Amand suggested that at the evening meeting during the Conference that a collection be taken up. After some discussion, Mr. Crafts moved that it was the sense of the meeting that a collection ought to be taken up at the night service during the Conference, but suggested that the Conference Committee confer with the Pastor as to the advisability of doing so – Carried.

The offer of the Sunday School to paint the church was discussed and a motion was made by Mr. Crafts that the Committee on care of the Church Properly confer with Mr. Hamilton Douglas Superintendent of the Sunday School as see if the work could not be done before the Conference – Carried.

The matter of repairing the brick work at the front entrance of the church was called to the attention of the Committee on church property.

There being no further business, meeting adjourned.
