Nov 5th: Cindy Lou Harrington and The Jason Connelly Band
Join us on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Hungry Ear Coffeehouse, hosted by NWUUC in Sandy Springs, GA., for a magical night of music, inspiration, and fun! We are proud to present Cindy Lou Harrington and The Jason Connelly Band as November’s entertainers.
Cindy Lou Harrington is an award-winning singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist with five independent album releases. A regular at songwriter rooms such as Eddie’s Attic and the Red Clay Theatre, her performances have also included opening for Kathy Mattea at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre and sharing the stage with established country-rock acts such as Sawyer Brown, Neal McCoy, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Off-stage, for over 28 years, Harrington’s audience consisted of disabled students, many of whom had a major impact on her life and music.
She credits her work as a special education teacher in Metro Atlanta’s DeKalb and Fulton County Schools as the inspiration for her song, “Let Me Win,” which was performed at the 1996 Paralympics Torch Ceremony and has been used statewide at Special Olympic events. Harrington has kicked off Atlanta Braves games five times with her performance of the National Anthem and she has received acclaim for her “keynote-song” performances at conventions and conferences in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and New York, sharing the podium with authors and speakers such as Wayne Dyer and Neale Donald Walsch. She is proud to call Georgia her home and often performs with her daughters as the harmony-pop group, “The Harringtons’.
The Jason Connelly Band
Jason Connelly, an American singer/songwriter, who spent most of his life in the U.S. Southlands, has made quite a name for himself over the past few years. In 2009, Jason set out to make music what he referred to as “music with intent”. Since the release of his first record, Songs from Inside the Attic, Jason Connelly and his band have gone on to release four more records, including the band’s latest release, ‘Bitter Blue’.
Ben Kriff, otherwise known as “Benny,” has been a member of the TJCB family since April of 2012. Since the introduction of Kriff, he has earned himself the right to be called not just a lead guitarist, but also a songwriter. Having co-written several of the TJCB’s latest musical scores, “Where’s Your Baby Now” showcases the magnitude of his lyrical ability.
The Jason Connelly Band is a treasure of a talent. They are so much more than the standard singer/songwriters. Reality and genuine emotion are their gifts to the audience. The first time you hear them, you not only wonder “Where have they been hiding?”….but you also wonder how they KNOW what your soul needed to hear. Jason Connelly’s voice is incandescent; his power over a guitar is astonishing. The combination of Jason Connelly’s voice and rhythmic guitar and Ben Kriff’s lead guitar melodies will leave you wanting more and humming their creations for the rest of the day.
