Northwest joins the Community Assistance Center Annual Meeting

Reverend Terry Davis and Tony Barbagallo, Ministry Team Leader for Social Justice were joined by Dave and Pam Zenner, Marcia and Keith Kreycik, and Anne Bennett at the Community Assistance Center (CAC) Annual Meeting on Tuesday April 26.  They were inspired by the progress CAC is making fighting food insecurity and homelessness.  CAC supports over 5,500 individuals in over 2,300 families annually, over 17 thousand families since CAC began in 1987.  Northwest UUC has been a partner congregation with CAC for many years and our volunteers support their programs every week.  Northwest members are encouraged to contact Tony Barbagallo or Katy Lockhart about volunteer opportunities.

CAC has recently completed a strategic plan to help them focus and prioritize.  The most pressing needs include prevention of homelessness and ensuring food security for more than 40,000 low income residents of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.  CAC distributes over half a million pounds of food annually and financial support for those at risk of homelessness.  An inspiring video about their programs may be found at the CAC Video  Additional information about CAC and their programs may be found on CAC’s website.
