As part of Northwest’s Social Justice and Earth Ministries, Dave Zenner lead a group of Northwest members and other volunteers on a bridge building project at Atlanta’s Outdoor Activity Center. Working with our Social Justice partner, the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA), Dave designed and then led a team to build a walking bridge over a waterway at the Outdoor Activity Center.

On this brisk Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday Monday, volunteers assembled to measure, cut, carry and hammer all the elements needed to build the bridge.

Other volunteers also joined in a trail maintenance project. They cleared debris from the hiking trail and then applied new mulch.

Yet another set of volunteers joined in some children’s activities, such as applying peanut butter and bird seed to pinecones to create bird feeders.

It was an altogether wonderful and productive time for Mother Earth on a day set aside to remember a famous American.
