With a desire to “mix it up a bit”, Northwest’s traditional worship service leveraged Saturday evening’s Hungry Ear Coffee House chairs and table setup and held a Worship Café on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
Worship Café was also an opportunity to provide a service for all ages. This all-ages service entitled “Getting old is not for sissies” was based on a quote attributed to Hollywood’s star of yesterday, Bette Davis. The quote may elicit a chuckle, but it also points to the serious side of getting older and the challenging life changes it bring. Whether you’re a senior or a young adult, our aging, or that of someone we love, has a profound impact on our lives.
How might we prepare our spirits for this journey?
Crayons and brown paper-covered tables begged for comments and artistic expression from young and old. Coffee, light drinks and snacks were as much a part of the service as comments, conversation and music.
The next Worship Café is scheduled for December 6.
