What makes a song special to the artist who performs or writes it?

The 4 musicians playing at Hungry Ear this month

Bob Bakert has cooked up another great show on September 5th.

Four local artists perform their favorite cover songs and original music with the stories behind the lyrics.

Cyndi Craven’s songs are the affirmations of a strong, sensitive heart, adorned with an artist’s gift for making words and music flow together like trapeze artists working the high wire. If you like lyrics that reach your inner self, sung to tunes that magnify their meaning, listen to some of Cyndi’s songs. You’ll be glad you did.” Br. Shankara

Bruce Gilbert says, “I’m a songwriter … sort of a musical mad scientist. I mix ingredients and hope that magic will happen. And we songwriters know what magic is because we carry our heros and their songs with us everywhere we go. So, we sit … and we play … and listen to our hearts … and compose. I’m very grateful for the chance to share with you, songs that came from MY heart.”

Ron Hipp is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist/singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His rich baritone voice, consummate fingerpicking, and mesmerizing songs make his shows a memorable experience. Ron has graced many a recording project by other artists over the years as a studio musician, and has many CD cover photos to his credit.

Happy to have Rick Diamond back again as our 4th singer/songwriter. Through the years he’s written over a hundred and seventy-five or so tunes. There seem to be a few left coming out from time to time, usually in pairs, depending on whether he comes in contact with a proper muse.
