Northwest Opens Doors to Film Crew

Crew filming inside the sanctuary

Actors in Front of Stained GlassThe Northwest sanctuary was transformed into a film set for the production company Band of Artists (BOA). Based in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta, BOA was seeking a church location to shoot a segment of their web series called FreeFall. The web series, entering its second season, is a crime drama that follows the lives of a group of friends as they navigate the dark crime-ridden streets of Atlanta.

Director, Sound and ActorsProducer Jenique Keyatta Holder-Mincey indicated that in her search for a church location, she made a list of about 50 local Atlanta churches. She went on to explain that as she shared her request for space at prospective churches for the “very popular LGBT crime-thriller web series,” she faced an unbroken series of “no’s until she contacted Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation.  Ms. Holder-Mincey went on to say, “You have no idea how much we really, really appreciate it. We face so many challenges.”

The film crew and cast spent three hours rehearsing and shooting their new segment for the web series in the Northwest sanctuary. It is anticipated that the segment filmed at Northwest will air in late September or early October.
