9 String Theory, music from around the world, performs May 3

9 String Theory will perform a concert of instrumental music from around the world on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:00pm at the Hungry Ear Coffee House

Performing music of great variety and intense virtuosity, 9 String Theory is the unique musical collaboration of Russian domra virtuoso Angelina Galashenkova-Reed and award-winning classical guitarist John Huston. The performance will include music from Argentina, Russia, Romania, Spain, France, Italy and the U.S.

9StringposterAngelina Galashenkova-Reed is a prize-winning master of the Russian domra, a lute-like instrument that is studied in Russia’s top music conservatories such as the St. Petersburg Conservatory, from which Ms. Galashenkova-Reed graduated. Ms. Galashenkova-Reed has performed around the world as a soloist with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the prestigious Andreev Russian Folk Orchestra, with whom she performed at the 100th anniversary of Carnegie Hall.

John Huston has distinguished himself as one of the most exciting and expressive guitarists of his generation. Guitar International has praised him as “a formidable talent” and La Stampa has called his playing “…mesmerizing.” Mr. Huston has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, Bent Frequency, the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Chamber Singers, and the Morehouse and Spelman College choirs.
